Feature verification task for concrete and abstract concepts
card_giftcard 1 group 57This study investigates how positive and negative features can be reliably measured and incorporated in theories of meaning. In the feature verification task we will ask you to rate to what extent various properties apply to a set of concrete and abstract concepts provided to you. In addition, we will ask you about your language background and how familiar you are with each of the words in the study.
To participate in this study, you need to be a native English or Mandarin Chinese speaker and have access to a computer and mouse.

Typicality judgments of abstract and concrete concepts
card_giftcard 1 group 56In a typicality rating task you will be asked to judge to what extent various category members are typical of their respective categories. In addition, we will ask you about your language background and how familiar you are with each of the words in the study.

Word association study with adjectives
card_giftcard 0.5 group 66Word association tasks are a speedy and intuitive measure of measuring word meaning. In this study you will be asked to give the first three adjectives that come to mind for a list of 42 cue words. This study will take approximately 30 minutesĀ of your time. To participate in this study, you need to be a native English speaker.

Word association verification study
